What is a Lone Venturer?
Lone Venturers are young men and women aged 14-18 years old. Lone
Venturers are guided by adults rather than being told what to do. Lone
Venturers do all the same things as a ‘normal’ Venturer unit does
excepted they do not meet every week. They are based throughout
South Australia from Cummins to Meningie. They get the opportunity to
decide what they want to do by holding unit management meeting. These
meetings are organised, planned and run by the Venturers. Due to the
distance, factors of all the Venturers the Internet and email are an
important communication network.
The outdoors is an essential part of the Venturing programme. Weekend
events, hikes, camping, rock climbing and abseiling are just a few
activities available for Lones to do. Developing an active, healthy
lifestyle is one of the goals of Lone Venturers. As well, Venturing
helps teens learn new skills that can lead to a satisfying career.
The Lone Venturers motto is “Monthly Communication”.
